Will Lone Show Schedule
Seattle, WA Shows
Will Lone is a Seattle based drummer and improvising artist and has been immersed extensively in music since 1998, cultivating a dimensional and melodic style of drum set playing. He performs regularly in and around Seattle with numerous groups of different styles, and has worked with many acclaimed local musicians including bassists Geoff Harper, Chris Symer and Ev Stern, and pianists Bill Anschell, Eric Verlinde, Tim Kennedy, and Darrius Willrich.
Will found his artistic calling at a young age, and in addition to his music has won awards for both his poetry and visual art. Throughout his early school years Will spent his time playing in jam bands and jazz combos, and in 2009 was awarded Outstanding Instrumentalist at the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival in Moscow, Idaho. In 2010, he spent 6 months in Chennai, India, studying tabla and rhythm, as well as teaching, touring, and recording. Will’s experiences in India opened doors to a blending of his knowledge of jazz, funk, and blues forms with a more worldly and spiritual musical language. Exploring Javanese gamelan and traditional African drumming has also enhanced his understanding of this language, as well as his awareness of phrasing, tonality, and the deeper levels of rhythmic structure. Will is currently working on a Bachelor’s of Music at Cornish College of the Arts, studying under Chuck Deardorf, Mark Ivester, Jarrad Powell, Dawn Clement and Kofi Anang. Additional studies with the legendary Denney Goodhew have further expanded Will’s connection to the spiritual and multi-dimensional aspects of breath, arc, and form.
Will Lone and his various bands, groups and ensembles play shows in and around Seattle, WA. They offer a variety of different styles and both Will and his bands are available for hire! Will is available to sit in as a drummer for your next show; or you can hire one of his bands for your next event. Will is involved in a number of jazz groups as well as funk and blues bands.

Video Game Music: Save Point
07/19/2019 | 9:30 pm, @ The Royal Room
The Royal Room in Columbia City presents a night of live video game music, featuring local act Save Point with Kirby’s Dream Band (L.A.) and The Runaway Four (Vancouver).
Save Point is an electric fusion ensemble covering some of the best-written video game music of our time. The ensemble was forged from a love of music and gaming in an effort to have fun with the genre and to create exciting live music from the original tracks written for an entirely different purpose. Featured in this ensemble are Cornish College of the Arts (CCA) students Sasha Chung (electric guitar) and Kirill Polyanskiy (electric violin) along with electric bassist Jedd Ahyoung. CCA alumni Will Lone will join them on the drumset, along Peter Adams filling in for CCA keyboardist Addison Kuth.
Kirby’s Dream Band is a pink rock band from San Diego that plays Kirby music…on live instruments! They do other game series too, if you’re into that; like Mario, Zelda, Final Fantasy, Sonic, Street Fighter, and more, plus a bunch of deep cuts you’ve probably never heard of. It’s okay though because for every non-Kirby song they do, all six band members wear these totally sweet custom hats of characters from the game! So when a guy runs past and high fives you with a cycloptic woolly mammothstrapped to his head at the show, you’ll have something to talk about next time 1985 Sega arcade game Space Harrier inevitably comes up in everyday conversation.
Vancouver’s The Runaway Four were conceived as a mixtape love-letter to classic video game themes old and new. The four piece synth-rock outfit take an eclectic, all-inclusive approach to crafting tight and clever medleys that will appeal to gamers of all ages and tastes. Each arrangement develops a theme or narrative exploring the history and tropes of well-loved video games, with an immersive live performance incorporating intricate costumes and dazzling synchronized visuals to further engage the audience.
21+ only. Doors at 9:00, music at 9:30. $7 adv ($10 dos).

Earshot Jazz in the 2nd Century: Jeremy’s Pyramid Scheme
07/25/2019 | 7:00 pm, @ The Chapel
Saxophonist and composer Jeremy Shaskus agrees with Wynton Marsalis’ claim that jazz is a “melting pot.” Returning for the second year in a row, Jeremy’s Pyramid Scheme has recruited three more members to grow its enterprise to a septet. Shaskus’ expanded vision is “inspired by old Yiddish melodies, contemporary styles, and a great desire to compose for larger ensembles.” This is a group of well-established musicians who can seriously play and take play seriously. Come see what the Pyramid Scheme cooks up. Our guess? High-energy, improvised cuts, a little sweet, mostly salty.
The night will also feature a set by the Xavier Lecouterier Quartet.
